in cotto's 2nd fight at 147 2-3 years ago (the last time i know of that he unofficially weighed in fight night) he weighed 159.

we all know cotto will come in at least 10 lbs. heavier than pacquiao on fight night.

it doesn't matter. pacquiao and roach knew that coming in.

shouldn't make a difference. pacquiao would be at the same weight disadvantage no matter who he fights at 147. even if he fights 140 guys they'd be much heavier as well.

                i don't like change in fighter's regime.

fighters are best doing what they are use to.

he's not gonna beat pacquiao with speed.

losing 3-5 lbs. won't make a difference in his speed deficit to pacquiao.

however losing 3-5 lbs. might take away something else from him.
I din't agreed with it when i first saw the quote. Not sure if it was his trainer or him but probably he feels he was way too slow in his last fight and needs to come lighter to time Pacquiao better. I don't think he wants to match Pacquiao speed.

I think he wants to be able to react faster.

So no excuses about weight issues for both sides then.. To me the weight issue has been overblown... if both men decide to fight at a specific weight then its on them.. No one should be saying ***** this too big that... remember hatton and his big mouth...

Definitely a good idea.. 5 pounds make a huge differnece in how you feel when you have to fight.

It might not seem like a lot but it is a good idea.. I don{t think cotto is trying to match manny speed. I just think is more for him to be able to do his thing better against mannys footwork.
