Andriy Kotelnik-Amir Khan: The Pre-Fight Report Card

By Cliff Rold - From splat to champion in less than a year?

    It could happen this weekend.

    It’s happened before.

In 1989, Terry Norris got his first shot at a Junior Middleweight crown against all-time puncher Julian Jackson. It didn’t go so well for Norris. After a commanding first round, he was commandingly near decapitated along the ropes. The loss might have devastated most fighters but Norris got another title shot less than a year later and bounced faded veteran John Mugabi in a single frame.

Even without a great chin, Norris was one hell of a talent. There are indications 2004 Olympic Silver Medalist Amir Khan is as well. He’ll need to be because his chin is as suspect as any top draw in the business. The British star is less than one year, and only a couple of fights, removed from an epic one-round flaming at the hands of Breidis Prescott in a non-title fight. [details]

Khan's chin is the worst in boxing history.

closer to fight night. going to ammend my prediction on this one some
            what. ha ha
if kotelnik pulls a pro tactic of going after khan heavy right off the bat he could get him off roaches game plan.
if kotelnik doesnt let khan ko him mid rounds is where i expect kotelnik to shine.

i most certainly could be wrong but i still look at khan as a kid that doesnt stay focused.
i expect khan to fall appart in mid rounds. and if he don't get lucky foresee kotelnik
ko ing khan in champ rounds.

Norris was knocked out by Julian Jackson, a P4P top 10 ATG puncher, and Simon Brown was a good fighter that had pop too. Khan was knocked out by Breidis Prescott and knocked down and hurt by light punching fighters coming up in weight.

The guy has heart, but Amir Khan has the weakest chin I've ever seen from a top 10 fighter.

Norris's chin is better than Khan's.

Norris was almost KO'd by Waters too. Great forgotten classic actually.

Not only that but Norris was technically superior to Kahn in every category, maybe even power as well. He could do everything and when he used his wits, his chin was never a factor because his opponent had a hard time even getting to it. See Norris/Brown II for an example.
