if anyone else was fighting i would be all for it, but its floyd and a terrible ppv would be a great blow to his ego..
So as boxing fans it is our duty to buy neither floyd's ppv or UFCComment

Money Mayweather.....haha....just imagine if Oscar started to call himself Dinero De La Hoya with a swagger to match.
I wasn't planning on buying it anyways. And UFC sucks.Comment

I refuse to take part in this whole "our sport is better because it has more PPVs" BS, i enjoy the sports and the fighters I enjoy, i won't be convinced to either purchase one fight or another for any reason other than who's fighting who.Comment

ALOT of money comes from advertising, and the advertising goes into which event has the most viewers. so needless to say, if you guys wanna protest a BIG fight be my guest, just dont come crying when budlight, tecate, corona, southwest airlines or whoever the hell else are the big sponsors quit boxing. then you'll have NO televised fights...******.Comment

pleasee
as a boxing community we need to relize this is a serious oppurtunity to put the romours to rest that ufc is better then boxing. this is our chance, choose smartly, pick boxing.
Why, you might ask?
Mayweather-Marquez is a joke. Floyd never takes on his most dangerous opponent, ever. Name a Floyd fight above 135, and I'll name you someone better and more dangerous in his division at the same time that he should've fought instead. It's that simple. Boxing is hurting because of this. The fights we as fans WANT to see, don't happen when fighters get so big they can cherry-pick and tip-toe around tough fights, using belts, mandatories, whatever excuse suits them for that particular dodge. It lessens and degrades the sport, and it is the number one reason why boxing has been on the decline in terms of public awareness and mainstream appeal. It started with Jones and his deal with HBO in the 90's, and it continued through to Lennox Lewis avoiding the Klitchskos, to where now, if a fighter (like Cotto, for instance) actually fights his toughest opponents, he's cherished as some ultimate warrior, when in reality he's just doing his job as a prize fighter, what decades of boxing took for granted before the 90's. Sure, there have been instances in the past of champions avoiding fighters, but it has never been so commonplace as it is in the sport now.
That said, the UFC is the exact opposite. You want to see the fight? Check in next month, it'll be on. It's a huge advantage to their sport, which is why it's popularity has risen exponentially during the same time when boxing's biggest stars want to drag their feet and not make the biggest, most entertaining fights that fans most want to see. Early MMA had a problem with it. There was Pancrase, Vale-Tudo Championship, UFC, etc. Then there was mainly Pride and UFC, and now UFC. And as much of a prick as Dana White is, he doesn't put up with **** and he does not let his fighters coast and cherry pick their fights. He's building a huge sport that's gonna be around for a long time, and boxing could learn from his success. But it's doubtful.
When more people on the street can tell you who the UFC light-heavyweight champion is than the Ring light-heavyweight championship, then you know there's a problem with boxing. Instead of trying to undermine and degrade the UFC, the sport of boxing should be watching and learning from it's explosion of popularity.Comment
