Miguel Cotto is being sued by his uncle

The boxing trainer and manager, Evangelista Cotto, introduced today, Thursday, a civil lawsuit against her nephew, boxing world champion Miguel Cotto, which claimed a compensation of $ $ 7,500,000 for breach of contract, damages and recovery of money.

The lawsuit, which was presented in the afternoon today in the court of first instance of Caguas, also includes his wife Melissa Guzman and the property company composed by them, to Miguel Cotto Promotions and MACV, inc., Among others.

As the nine-page document in the possession of First Time, the demand is based on "the failure of Miguel Angel Cotto, his agents and / or corporations, of its contractual obligations to Mr. Evangelista Cotto. In addition, the complaint is based on negligent and intentional acts of Miguel Angel Cotto Caguas occurred in the April 7, 2009, the day when the boxer Miguel Angel Cotto brutally assaulted by his uncle, causing serious damage. "

"This has been a very difficult situation for me and my family. Many years of commitment and affection, "said Evangelista Cotto. "Having to accept that a person so close to so many years by an act that way. One feels that the effort and the work of many years has not been appreciated. I do not want to happen to anybody, "said Evangelista, in relation to the lawsuit filed by Carlos Dalmau Ramírez.

The plaintiff claims that Miguel Cotto is owed to his uncle, 23 percent of the income generated by the boxer from April 11, 2004 when it proclaimed champion mudial.

According to the complaint, the contract between uncle and nephew from the January 8, 2001, specified that Evangelista charged ten percent of the amount of any income of his fights and ten percent and revenues related to promotions, but as soon was proclaimed world champion, automatically increase the compensation to 33 percent.

"However, Miguel Angel Cotto did not adjust the compensation due to Mr. Evangelista Cotto as was his contractual obligation, and instead continued to handle paying the equivalent of ten per cent of the contracts for each fight," reads the letter, in also specifies that the Evangelist did not receive any payment for income related to commercial endorsements and promotions of the boxer.
