Poonsawat, the Thai fighter (38-1) is his mandatory. It was Cordoba's mandatory, as he made a voluntary defence against Dunne, now Dunne must fulfill that mandatory. I reckon the reason its taking so long is cause they're trying to pay Poonsawat to step out of the way and get Dunne a bigger name...or easier foe.
Lads i heard a rumour (not confirmed) that the reason there is such a delay on confirming a date on a defence of the title. Rte are meant to be reconsidering broadcasting boxing because loss of advertising revenues in this recession business. Brian peters is having difficulty with rte putting up the money to attract marquez and televising the fight.
If any of you guys hear any more on this please postComment

Oh right, thats interesting. Didn't think about it from the broadcaster point of view. Vasquez wll prob end up fighting Marquez next, thats the big money fight, so there's no reason for either of them to consider fighting Dunne. Maybe Dunne's team might take a low budget fight to tide him over, then hope that they are invited overseas...i dunnoLads i heard a rumour (not confirmed) that the reason there is such a delay on confirming a date on a defence of the title. Dunnes promoter might give his fighter's mandatory some step aside money so that dunne can fight someone more beatable like Wayne McCullough. Wayne's well past it now but he did say that he would love to fight dunne in ireland.Comment
