Yea for us fans its entertainment. were not promoters or finacial advisors, we dont get paid to give a **** who gets what split and at what weight. so lets act like fans and just want the fights to happen for entertainment purposes.Comment

Arrggh... You again huh? LOL. JK
No i agree. Of course ima expect to get paid to compensate for my time and health.
But is that an accurate portayal of most boxer's incentive to fight? When all these superstars first started out, you think they really expected to get paid millions while they were fighting in small ass venues? I dont know any of them personally, but i think it's something else other than money that motivated them to get to the elite level.
Top seeded amatuers don't get paid, and most of them never turn pro. But on the flip side, there are hella tomatoe cans and cheeseburgers out there who are willing to get knocked out for $1,000.
My point is, of course the money's there. Always has and always will. But i think to some fighters, the money is just a bonus. In other words, they aren't strictly fighting "for money," they're fighting because it's their passion and it makes them feel alive. And those are the ones who get to the top and make millions apoun millions of dollars. I think the ones who fight strictly "for the money" are the ones who get knocked or hurt, and stay in the lower level club divisions.
I mean, you get paid either way right? Win or Lose. Boxing is a dirty business.Comment

he meant to say that THE BIGGEST REASON WHY THEY FIGHT IS FOR MONEY. And that is why money is very important in negotiations, and money is the reason why some fights are made, and some are not. If they didn't like money, they would be fighting in the amatuer ranks.Comment

True. But i think this primarily pertains to the big shots who are making hella bread. Cus at that level, ya gotta have your business brain on point.
But pro fighters at the lower echelon of the ladder? They're not worried about negotiations or any of that *****. Some pros take fights on two weeks notice just to keep fighting.
I'm not arguing, i'm just sayin that there is a huge difference and clear distinction between the elite pros and the bottom dweller pros, but they're all pros regardless who fight for money. Can you dig it?Comment
