Promoter Frank Warren feels success for Amir Khan on Saturday night would launch the Bolton boxer up to the world's elite.
The 22-year-old Briton takes on WBA light-welterweight champion Andreas Kotelnik at Manchester's MEN Arena as he bids to realise his dream of becoming a world champion.
And with potential fights against Ricky Hatton and Juan Manuel Marquez being mooted further on down the line should he win, Warren is keen to see his man succeed.
"This is a tough fight for Amir, but it's one that I believe he can win provided he maintains his discipline and stays focused," Warren told Sky Sports News. "It could be a springboard for him to go on to much, much bigger things.
"Andreas is a very competent champion, is well respected, and probably has not had the accolades that he should have got for some of his wins.
"I'm confident Amir can win it. He knows what he's good at doing and I think the speed is the key and his accuracy will get him through it."
Khan's work with new trainer Freddie Roach paid dividends in mid-March when the Olympic silver medallist took out Marco Antonio Barrera and Roach his confident his charge will become world champion.
"He's a very good fighter," Roach said of Kotelnik. "We've studied him and we know him pretty well.
"We know his habits his good ones his bad ones so we're ready for that and he can't hit what he can't find."
