    how do boxing payouts work?

so i know this is a dumb question but i need to ask, how do boxing payouts work? To my knowledge i always thought there was the guarenteed amount guys make, and then the purse for the guy who wins. So for instance theres 10 million in a fight, each guy takes 4 million, assuming its 50 50, and then the winner gets the extra 2 million. Is this how it works? Cause if it is I've always wondered why boxers dont accept lower gaurentees and higher purses when arguing about money. For instance both manny and floyd probably are confident they can win, so why don't they each take a lower % and more of a purse. I mean if you believe you can win why not? Please people correct me if i'm wrong. also sorry for the spelling, ive been drinkin
