Everybody knows that the JMM and Mayweather bout is not a lucrative business decision. There are three obvious reasons that Mayweather became aware of and decided to call out Pacquiao; First of all, Mayweather is in dire need of financial stimulus to pay off his lenders (i.e. trash collector, mortgage, IRS...) and to do that he's dropping JMM and called Pacquiao for a profitable monetary pay-out.
Secondly, the likelihood of a minimum financial return that will affect his self-proclaimed bull**** notion that he's the "biggest attraction in boxing."
Lastly, it is probably a ploy to hype up his bout with JMM and to wake up the JMM fans to support the bout 100%.
Seriously...

All he has to say is yes. And yet you fall for his fake.

for the first time in i dont know how long im happy after seeing what mayweather had to say.
he's willing to toss aside the fight with JMM (that many of us know really isnt the true test for him) to take on the top p4p fighter in the sport...without a tuneup fight at that.
sure he wants more money but floyd makes a good point...if he sold more tickets against oscar and hatton than pacman did then he makes a good point to get more money as he sold more tickets in his two fights with them...proving he's a bigger draw than pacman.
granted pacman is the top p4p fighter...and thats must be taken into consideration.
And the truth is pacman really does have the ball in his court.
in reality pacman doesnt need floyd as much as floyd needs pac...pacman has the title of the sports best in the world regarless of weight...floyd doesnt.
so with that being said i think 50-50 is fair...mayweather has the arguement for being the bigger draw (so thats a claim to bigger share) but pacman holds the legacy (so thats his claim to a bigger share)...so 50-50 sounds fair to me.
personally i think it would be more entertaining if floyd and pac fought and cotto and JMM fought and the winner of those two fights fight each other for the worlds best.
seems fair to me.
and the fighters seem more evenly matched that way.
i think it would be a great idea.
anyone agree?

"Mayweather said a fight against Pacquiao -- the fight most people believe is the biggest possible in boxing -- could happen but won’t if Pacquaio’s promoter, Bob Arum, doesn’t rethink his position.
Mayweather said Arum has offered a 50-50 split of the purse.
'(Arum) knows that’s not going to happen,' he said. '… If Bob wasn’t so greedy, the fight would happen.'"
Anything else buck? Or you dont believe Mayweather either? Will patiently await your well thought out response.
Again, all Mayweather has to do is pay off marquez (as he claims he can and will do) and accept a 50/50 split. Its really not all that hard.Last edited by Gabilan; 07-15-2009, 05:05 PM.
