Margarito being labeled a cheater is inconsistent with the content of his character.
Yes. Another Margarito thread.
His detractors like to refer to him as a cheater, plasterito, margacheato, etc. But the word cheater implies cowardice i.e going out of your way to get an advantage because of an implicit insecurity in your own talent level.
However, it is plain as the nose on your face that Margarito is anything but a coward.
In his career he has demonstrated a ton of heart, will, loyalty (defending against Williams when he didn't have to) and of course a great work ethic and chin.
The prime example of his lunch pail, hard working, everyman, go home to the old lady every night and drink a beer style was the Mosley fight.
Particularly the 9th round. That entire fight he ate the best punches Mosley could throw and in the 8th round he nearly got beat to death.
Now stay with me here. If cheater as defined means coward, cheapskate, loser, ******* or any other pejorative you wanna attach to it is the truth. Why would a person of such an allegedly low moral character elect to come out for the 9th round when it was clear that A: he needed a k.o to win (which was clear by the tone of that fight it wasn't going to happen) B: he was still on ***** street and C: he knew he had nothing left?
The answer is clear. (Overwhelming technical evidence of his innocence and failure of due process by the CSAC aside)
Antonio Margarito is as honest and hardworking a fighter as you will ever see.
And the only people that believe he really cheated are bitter Cotto fans, ***** Mayweather fans who know that their man avoided him, and straight up haters.
