Yeah, which is why he's considering the option of fighting him if he beats Johnson in the rematch right now, right?

Bottom line ; Hopkins doesn't have many cards left to play right now. He's one of those cats that likes the really big names for legacy's sake, and there's no one out there right now that can offer him that or big money.

He's as old as dirt in the boxing sense, and that fact that he's even considering fighting again is a testament to his desire to be his best.

I count myself lucky to see him in the ring again one final time no matter who the hell he fights. Roy, Chad, Glenn, Adamek, or Froch. Any of 'em will do, at this point.

So long as I get to witness one final execution.

LOL ok Hopkins-Cunninham was being talked about before he lost SD to Adamek. It wasn't a situation where Adamek won the belt then he considered moving to CW just because a slower fighter won the belt. He was even considering fighting Haye if he beat Wlad.

I read the entire interview. He thinks Johnson will beat Dawson. But he said the only way he fights the winner is if HBO motivates him like they did with Floyd with the money.

He was shocked that Ortiz quit and said he has never heard a young fighter say the words he said.

Also he went on to say Gatti is a lock first ballot HOF and a throwback

Well that's a given, with Hopkins.

He's been looking for Legacy fights ever since Tito.

And with his age, he's maybe got 1 more left in the tank, so it's natural he'd want some serious money for it.

Not to mention if Johnson does win, he'd be rematching a guy he already beat the piss out of and TKO'd 10 years ago.

Not exactly the stellar finish he's hoping for.

He also said Adamek motivates him to. They just need to come correct, lol. But he said he isn't holding up the #1 LHW spot.

Honestly I think he will retire. He has nothing else to prove, imo

His opinions don't really mean much based on track record. He said Taylor and Miranda are the future of the MW division, look where they are now. I know he was wrong on some predictions, and Gatti is a lock for the HOF? Good fighter, respect the guy, but I wouldn't put him in the HOF.

Which is why he will never fight Dawson. It is too much risk for a low reward. At this point what does B-hop care about title belts? Dawson is pretty much unknown by the general public so no one other than hardcore fans will care if he beats Dawson and B-hop won't make much money off of the fight. This is also a fight he has a serious chance of losing too, so I doubt it will happen. If I had to guess I would say B-hop is hoping Johnson wins this.

If Dawson won, HBO would put up enough to apease Hopkins, because they probably think Dawson would win, then again they should know by now to never bet against Hopkins. But if Dawson did win this would boost their young star to a new height.

It is a winnable fight for both men but in different ways. I still doubt B-hop is going to wager possibly tarnishing his legacy by losing to a relatively unknown. Dawson is very different than Pavlik and honestly how often is B-hop going to perform like he did that night. Physically you have fewer and fewer good days the older you get.
