many people used to say that he have a problem his chin and I thought too but when he fought against johua clottey who is the top boxer in 147,it seems like durable is not his problem anymore.but i found another his ploblem.
he have a ploblem to beat some guy who is bigger than him..like margarito,clottey,mosley..
for example

margarito=loss

clottey=win but Su****ious UD

mosley=draw..

He beat Mosley...clearly.

His problem is that while he's a good boxer, he aint good enough to rely on his boxing skills completely. So when he's faced with someone he can't get out of there he starts moving straight back instead of using angles, and his flaws in his boxing are seen.

I'm not sure how bad his stamina issues are....I think they can get a little blown out of proportion.

And than his defense...he's vulnerable to uppercuts and straight rights. And to be honest, while I think he's answered his chin questions, I don't think he likes it to the body...

margarito was a questionable loss (especially since we found out about his illegal wraps)

cotto's chin isnt a problem (the margarito fight being my evidence) he got absolutely battered for most of the rounds from the 7th or 8th round till the 11th where he ended up losing in that round but guys like cintron dont last that long with margarito...infact most of margarito's opponents dont make it to the 11th round. so the chin has held up...my guess would be from going from 140 to 147. towards the end of his career at 140 he complained of being weight drained...since the extra 7 lbs have been added his chin has appeared to have gotten twice as better easily.

against ricardo torres (at 140) he was dropped on shots that werent close to the amount of impact that the punches of mosley and margarito landed on him.

clottey was a fight that i believe could have went either way. a UD was very unfair to clottey who gave cotto a better fight than i expected. i had cotto by a round in the fight and i can easily see on clottey could have won it.

against mosley it was a close fight but the rounds (for the most part) were clear and easy to score. i had cotto winning it 115-113 after 12.

i had cotto ahead of margarito (for the record) after the 7th round. i believe i only gave margarito one or two of the first 7 rounds but after the 7th i gave every round to margarito i believe.



anyway.

in terms of weakness i think his defense is getting a little worse and i also think his stamina/endurance is fading as well. seems to be slowing down since the margarito fight. i hope he gets a new trainer that can assist him in these areas. with better defense and improved stamina he can really be a force at WW and possibly the undisputed WW champ.

His ring generalship is not up to scratch, you have to know how to negotiate your way around the ring intelligently without getting trapped or caught with tail end shots etc.

he beat mosley clottey didnt do anything in the championship rounds and margarito i would like to see again and he could take a punch

Can not defend the upper cut.
Has been doing too much back peddling in recent fights, does not like to clinch but I hate clinchers anyway, a la Berto.
Is not dedicated 100 % to the sport as he is reported to be partying hard, getting drunk and doing yayo.

Still an entertaining fighter, decent talent, converted south paw, with nice body punching technique.
