After a long run of bad beatings a Filipino boxer has scored an unexpected but welcome victory in Queensland, Australia. Lightweight Ranee Ganoy stunned highly touted Mick “Pony” Shaw scoring a sixth round TKO with referee Brad Vocale forced to stop the fight at 2:55 of the round after Shaw suffered a rib injury.
Ganoy was coming off a fifth round TKO loss to Naoufel Ben Rabah last December 12 in Penrith, New South Wales after dropping a unanimous six round decision to Ben Cruz in Blacktown also in New South Wales. Ganoy had won only one of his last six fights. [details]
