Old school fighters fought in tougher eras wit less $, more rds, no 4 belts to a division bull****, and less weight classes. There's a reason most are almost automatically seen as gr8er than gr8 fighters today. Obviously there are overrated fighters in any era, but I got no problem wit many of those old school legendary fighters bein viewed higher than some guys today. Same **** will likely happen down the road when stars of the next era are compared against top guys of today.

Chavez fought his share of bums but Meldrick Taylor, Roger Mayweather, Edwin Rosario, Hector Camacho, Jose Luis Ramirez, Mario Martinez, Greg Haugen, Terrence Alli, Frankie Randall, Ruben Castillo, Rocky Lockridge, Juan LaPorte were all world class.

it the mentality of the people the old school are alway better than today's boxer.

espiecally when consider the flashy thing that boxer wear like Floyd does.

But as far as Featherweight I think old school boxer were more competitve at that weight because you have Alexis Arguelleo, Camacho, Bobby Chacano, Julio Cesar Chavez, Rosaria, Salvador Sanchez, Azumha Nelson...etc that is just to name few that comes with mind without searching in boxrec or wiki.

You cannot compare fighters from the 1920's and 1950's and so on to today's fighters. It's not fair with the changes in the sport and medicine and so forth. However, that does not mean you can completely forget the men responsible for laying the foundation of the sport. So what if Marciano would get knocked out by the Klitschkos? That doesn't mean anything as far as how great a fighter he was.
