Arturo Gatti, the thrill-a-minute brawler who engaged in an epic three-fight series with Micky Ward, was found dead in a hotel room in northeastern Brazil, The Associated Press is reporting. He was 37.

Gatti’s body was discovered Saturday morning in Porto de Galinhas, a beach resort, AP reported. He arrived there on Friday with his wife and 1-year-old son, neither of whom was harmed.

A public safety spokesman for the region said it was unclear how Gatti died.

"There were no bullet or stab wounds on his body, but police did find blood stains on the floor," said the spokesperson, who declined to be identified.

Gatti, a native of Montreal who lived in Jersey City, N.J., won two major titles. He never had the natural ability of an elite boxer but no one had a superior fighting spirit. His courage and resilience are legendary.

    He retired in 2007

    Rest In Peace Arturo Gatti.

I just seen the headline on ESPNews channel...

I can't believe he's gone so young. 37 yrs old. he had SO SO SO much in front of him even after a pretty successful boxing career (if you ask me). A true warrior that cannot be forgotten (at least not in my heart).

This is about as sad as when i heard about the passing of corrales.

In boxing we've lost another great warrior and outside the ring we lost another great soul.

My thoughts/prayers go out to gatti, his family, friends, and everyone in the world that is affected by this news.

Its an overwhelming sad thought to think another great person has to die so young.

He may be gone from this earth but im more than sure he'll never be forgotten in the eyes and hearts of his family friends and fans.

    Rest in Peace, champ.

                Man, no.. just no.

Gatti is the guy who got me into boxing, my user name was even dedicated to Arturo, (T for Thunder, 97 for "the beggining of the end", after 97 he had a losing streak and got written off...)
