Any advice and info on how to turn pro

I am just wondering what you guys know about it especially in the UK.What does it take to pick up a pay check, have you got to be on a different level or can you buy a pro boxing licence in the UK. Have you got to have a decent amatuer career or would you say it's like a different sport amatuer to pros. What about hand size , would you say you've GOT to have big hands or can you just build on them. Also what kind of money does the average journey man make roughly a guy who would probably be win half lose half . Just wondering man .Any help and info would be great thanks

Boxers usually find promoters through contacts at the gym. Most good gyms and trainers are connected with local promoters and boxing organisations.

Your best bet if your new to boxing is to find a good, reputable gym, get some amateur experience, and go from there. Most pro boxers have usually won a local, regional, or national title somewhere down the line. Even guys with 4-10 records usually have won such titles.

Find a gym. Train hard. Enter local, and regional boxing competitions. And if you are any good, you will more than likely get picked up by a promoter.

Just remember that for most boxers their first fight is also their last fight.

if your doing this because you think that you can make alot of money I wouls say this, stay in school!!!

you can buy your license Im sure the same in the uk as in the us. but if you have little/no amatuer experience you are going to be lining yourself up for some supreme ass kickings for next to nothing.

        Stay in school !!!!!..............Rockin'

its not that easy larry, I mean you can easily attain a license but once that bell rings, with little/no experience, your in for a world of hurt. Sure being in shape could help some and being tough will aswell but essentially it comes down to skill. And sooner rather than later a green guy will run into a guy with skill and the pro joy ride is over. The only thing that he will be kissing is the cavas most likely from his bad habits and starting from square one as a pro with no background you can put in all you want and will probably never see even close to that coming back in monetary fashions or even respect or favors from promoters. get some am experience before you enter the pro ranks, its a much safer environment in which to hone your skills. Turning pro with no am experience (which can be done, but isnt a good idea) is just like rockin' said: a way to set yourself up for a whooping. They will chuck you in with some dude who has an am background trying to build his record and you will get starched

so my advice is go to a gym, learn to box, have some am fights, and then after 2-3 or so years of am competition, ask your coach what he thinks about you giving the pros a crack....

just my two cents, because this way not only will you have a better chance of achieving some level of competency as a pro, you are also protecting your body when you do get in there as a pro

oh and pretty much anyone can turn pro, thats why you see those guys with 0-5 records getting ktfo in one round, and you dont wanna be one of them
