I think If they did a same night weigh in, Manny would be all good stepping in at 147. Cotto could also come in at 147, even 146 (see Clottey), but he'd be ko'd in the first round at the official 147 lb fight weight.
I know alot of Cotto fans are complaining about how hard it was for him to cut to 147, supposedly he's already fighting drained. But if it so hard for him just making 147, then maybe he should be fighting at 154.
Thus the idea behind the catchweight, so Manny doesnt have to fight someone outweighing him 15+ lbs. Cotto could possibly rehyrdate to 160, but I dont think Freddie and co want to give Cotto that advantage. There's alot of $$$ money involved in this fight. If Cotto was fighting at 140 this wouldnt be a problem. But Big draw vs Big draw, at different weight classes, there's gonna be stipulations.
