At least Manny isn't making Cotto defend his WW title at 140lbs...

...Like Ray Leonard did to Donny Lalonde back in the day. Lalonde was contracted to weigh in at 168, yet his 175lbs title was on the line against Ray. Ray knocked him out and picked up the brand new WBC Super Middleweight belt and Lolonde's WBC Light Heavyweight belt in a 168lbs fight. Why? Because Ray could do that kinda ****. He had star power. Oscar had star power. And now Manny has that kind of star power. So Cotto should be lucky that Manny is letting the fight happen at 145lbs.

thats because it was the first match for the wbc super middleweight title and they wanted to get people to watch by making it a 2 belt match.....lalonde was not weight drained he always weighed in under 175....no one really considers ray leonard the 175 lb champ but that fight was an accomplishment he got knocked down and came back to win by ko.....

People loved Ray though. But boxing hardcores were pissed at him a lot of the time.

But the general public loved the man ever since the Olympics.
