Chad Dawson vs. Jean Pascal

This fight reminds me of Mosley vs Forrest. Dawson has all the technical advantages. Better technique, straighter punches, better pure boxer, is naturally bigger and can match Pascal in the speed department. I think Pascal would make it a hard fight because he is very tough and athletically gifted, and is extremely fast, but his problem would be Dawson's jab and reach because that is his biggest weakness. When Froch slowed the tempo and used his skills in the later rounds of his fight with Pascal, he couldn't miss with the jab and won the rest of the fight by simply boxing. Dawson is much more sound technically than Froch, and much faster with a better array of punches( and a southpaw to boot). I see him winning a close but unanimous decision.

im a fan of both guys but ill have to go with dawson. hes mixed it up with top competition for a long time, pascal just stepped up and with mixed results. chad by UD.

personally i think you have to account for the fact that pascal is a LHW who can somehow make SMW. imo in the froch fight he had to cut too much weight and you could tell in the latter half of the fight he looked like he couldn't get his body to do what his mind wanted.

vs diaconu i think he put in a much better performance, he took a few uneccessary punches (ala SSM) but imo thats just his style and he enjoys mixing it up (again ala SSM).

i think it depends on the improvements that i see from dawson and pascal. right now id say dawson by close UD but pascal has the tools to beat him and imo has more room for improvement in his game.

id like to see him work with a better trainer and improve his jab and in particular his right hand. if hes going to have any success vs dawson he needs to master that over right hand, this along with his natural athleticsm, speed, toughness and fitness would win him the fight.

id like to pascal vs cloud, and maybe some of the other titlists like erdei or balzay before he takes on dawson.

if they fought tomorrow i see a decison for dawson.
