yeah and a real shame that Malignaggi-Diaz is at a catchweight

when will these goofy catchweight bouts go away?

I think its gonna start to be a trend..i dont like the catchweight bull either..

But im from Houston and i like Diaz..he should win by stoppage if not a wide UD since he lacks some power....but like the other 2 fights here..ill be ringside baby!

2008 was a catch weight explosion with the Trinidad/Jones, Abraham-Miranda, Taylor/Pavlik and of course Hopkins/Pavlik

I just don't see the point of catchweight bouts, especially with boxing having so many weight divisions (17 to be exact.)

and the negotiations for this fight (Malignaggi-Diaz) seemed particularly ridiculous, with one fighter wanting the fight @ 139 and the other (Diaz) wanting it at 138

        so they decide on 138.5.

        but old news ^

Why are HBO and Golden Boy so high on Guerrero? He's nothing special to me. Got his title from the worst tiel holder of recent memory. Lost to a guy with like 10 losses recently. Is it because of his story? He's exciting sometimes sure, but this is what the third date they've given him? I don't know, I just think he'll be beaten up by guys like Soto, Linares, Guzman, etc.

They are silly. Diaz wanted it at 135...then said 136, Paulie held out for 140, then dropped to 139, then Diaz said 137.....so Paulie settled on 138.5.

Diaz's reasoning was he didnt want to go straight up to light-welterweight yet. So he gets the catchweight he wants and it in his own backyard....
