7 key fights in which Cotto has shown vulnerabilities...
Collapse
-
Lovemore N'dou - gassed and running in the final rounds
DeMarcus Corley - caught and buzzed pretty bad
Ricardo Torres - hurt badly and dropped
Zab Judah - busted up and almost did the chicken dance himself
Shane Mosley - gassed and running in the end, again
Antonio Margarito - beatdown and quit
Joshua Clottey - gassed and running, yet again
Props to Miguel for making it this far and finding a way to win the above fights with the exception of the Margarito beatdown. In Manny Pacquiao he faces one of the very best, elite fighters of this era, regardless of the weight difference. And with the kind of vulnerabilities he's shown in the past, chances are pretty damn good that he won't make it to the final bell against the Pacman.
And no, this is not hating, as many of you will be quick to call it. I'm just analyzing the upcoming fight and calling it how I see it.
Cotto getting Buzzed by Judah is one of the most OVERstated things in Boxing, he was not badly hurt at all.Comment

Judah hurt him, Cotto hides it well and Judah let him off the hook. Manny is not Zab Judah. Once Manny makes Miguel do the two step, he'll be all over him like white on rice, no pun intended.Comment

I give it to Cotto for always adjusting and having the will to win. I take it as an advantage. Plus, 4 were JWW fights where he is chinny, I can not see this weakness on his WW fights. He got hurt real bad by Marg but I think those were due to accumulation.Lovemore N'dou - gassed and running in the final rounds

But on the subject of gassing in the later rounds, you have a point there. If he can't time pac in the early rounds, he will definitely be in trouble in the championship rounds. Also, since cotto is using the Morales type defense, he is very vulnerable to the straight lefts. We'll see if he adjusts.Comment

agree. pac saw clottey vs cotto (from round 1 when he was not yet cut), and i think he saw cotto being not very difficult to hit. if cotto eats multiple lefts from pac, he will go down.please. cotto was never an undefeated fighter with an invincible aura, not at all. he showed his weaknesses time and time again before he lost, as stated by the thread starter. he was wobbled, dropped and almost stopped against a C+ puncher in ricardo torres, he has gassed in a couple of fights (although not in the N'Dou fight IMO).
Im picking Manny. I dont think 2 pounds makes anyone weight drained if im honest, cotto doesnt seem like hes ever had real problems making '47, so no worries there, i just think mannys the better fighter. his handspeed and head movement make him the favorite to pick cotto to pieces i think, and if pac hits you enough times, you will go down. regardless of weight.Comment

I like Manny, but he's had his share of problems too. He was knocked out a long time ago and he had a pretty bad time against El Terrible and Marquez. This is boxing you know.
Although I like Manny a lot I'm not feeling the same way about you. You see Manny respects fighters you don't.Comment
