    Thoughts on the Atlas/Povetkin union.

At first it didn't interest me, but if Atlas can do what he intends to do I think it could end up being an intriguing combination.
Povetkin has a lot of upside so hopefully Atlas can bring him to realize his potential.

All in all, a great move for Povetkin.

    i second this.

Atlas is a brilliant mind (in my opinion) in boxing. He really knows his stuff and from all the fighters he's trained you can tell he must be doing something right. His commentary on FNF's proves this. he always has an interesting insight/angle to foil another fighter's plans. he can break fighters and styles down and while he may not be the greatest in predicting fights (unless you go against his pick at the sportsbook that is) he's one of the best of this era in terms of knowledge.

a great move by both atlas and povetkin...maybe we can see atlas in the corner of povetkin willing him on and maybe even provide some great overly animated advice in the corner (see moorer v. holyfield) and maybe...just maybe one day he'll be doing that with povetkin with wlad being the opponent across the ring and we can see the unthinkable happen again? haha.

    you never know.

either way i hope they do well together and im glad to see atlas training a top fighter again.

I have much respect for Teddy's boxing knowledge, but I don't like him personally and hope he fails. There will be no living with his gigantic ego if Povetkin beats Klitschko.

couldnt hurt at all. Povetkin needs all the help he can get against Wlad. if anybody could train him to beat Wlad, its Teddy

Is he even officially his trainer yet? From what he said he was just going there to give an evaluation. I assume if they mesh he might then become his trainer.

Steve Kim's article today made it sound official with quotes from Atlas confirming it.

Great move if they really do it. The more i watch Povetkin fighting and the more i like it. He's raw but has a huge margin of improvement and if he works with a world class trainer he may be able to reach his potential.
He's probably what most people saw in Sam Peter, Arreola and Haye. A new entertaining Heavyweight who can end the reign of the K family.
