Marquez's Sparring Search Proves Tough For Mayweather

The team of Juan Manuel Marquez is having a hard time finding sparring partners who can emulate the style of Floyd Mayweather Jr. The fight takes place on September 19 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Trainer/manager Nacho Beristain is trying to bring in a few fighters from South America to the Romanza Gym, including two from Venezuela. [details]

Go spar with James Toney. Sure he is WAY bigger than Floyd but at least he can emulate Floyd's shoulder roll.

Not to mention, JMM will be sparring a much larger dude. Which will make the fighting a bigger dude curve alot smaller almost non existant.

Guzman would be a good sparring partner to simulate mayweather's movement, but I don't know about the shoulder roll.

Guzman has a shoulder roll and would work nicely if it weren't for the fact that he has been lost in the Bermuda Triangle for the past two years.

a few rounds with toney will help with dealing with the shoulder roll and the style...not so much with the speed of floyd though

Never thought about Guzman. Him being lost in the bermuda triangle had made me forget about him.

Haha for real, that's probably why Nacho forgot about him as well.

Guzman is a no brainer..is nacho ******ed?

I mean hell he and Floyd have the same style and hell loyds dad was Guzmans trainer for christ sake.

And a lightweight training with a heavyweight...spells disaster...Toney would hurt JMM.
