Mosley Forgets Pacquiao: Eyes Berto, Williams, Cintron

"Sugar" Shane Mosley has decided to stop waiting for Manny Pacquiao.

The Pomona boxer on Monday told his promoter, Richard Schaefer, to stop attempts to land a fight later this year against the world's top pound-for-pound fighter, who clearly has his sights set on a Nov. 14 fight against Miguel Cotto in Las Vegas.

"Shane says he'll be the last man standing, anyway," Schaefer told The Times Monday afternoon.

The promoter said Mosley's "marching orders" were for Schaefer to pursue a fight on HBO later this year against a field including another world welterweight champion, Andre Berto, or Paul Williams, Joshua Clottey or Kermit Cintron.

Mosley only a few weeks ago told The Times he didn't want to face one of those lesser-known boxers, but Schaefer said the thinking now is that Mosley is confident he can win such a bout, and would then be poised to cash in against a Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather Jr.

"Shane's legacy is intact, and it's not dependent on a Pacquiao yes or no," Schaefer said.

Finally Sugar is coming back to some sort of rational state of mind...I hope he fights Berto and picks up the green belt...So when Cotto beats Manny P...The rematch with Mosley would be for mostly all the belts....cept the ****** IBF that stripped Clottey...That should be Cotto's belt.

I don't know, Winky while was beat decisively in the PWill fight still showed that PWill is far from perfect. Mosley has more power than Winky ever will even if Winky is at 160 and I think he can catch PWill with some solid shots and hurt him. Not to mention Mosley had no qualms about tying up Margarito which is the best way to stop a guy who throws 100 punches a round. I'd put my money on PWill, but I'm not gonna count Mosley out.

As for the topic is about damn time Shane. KO someone else like you did Marg and then you'll get your big money fight.

I have a feeling Shane is going to lose his next fight.

If the old man loses to a young bull...like Berto Williams or Clottey...I don't seem him being relevant in the division for much longer.

All he has right now is half of the WW lineage....if he loses that...Theres really no reason to fight Shane Mosley.
