Why Is Bute Not In Tournament?

After hearing about the Showtime Super Middleweight Tournament, I was quite excited but I'm left wondering why Lucian Bute has been left out!! Bute's management has said they want in the tournament and questioned why Dirrell and Ward are more qualified than him to be in the tournament. He is the IBF Champion, number 2 in the Ring ratings, undefeated and Froch has talked of fighting him so why not include him?

Also will the titles of the respective champions bew on the line when they fight in this tournament?

Maybe they figure he first ought to rematch a certain fellow who had the fight stolen from him in the 12th by the ref.

I believe they did talk to his camp, but the mandatory situation did not help.

Balzsay is another champ who was left out. Probably wasn't interested, considering the level of opposition he has been facing lately.

Kessler is said to have a mandatory against Perdomo looming, could that spoil things a little bit?

Anyway, Bute will still have Bika, Green, Miranda, Balszay and others to pursue.

In this report Bute's matchmaker, Don Majeski, addresses the issue of Bute's alleged rejection.

"That is a lie (referring to Bute's refusal to enter the tournament). How is Jermain Taylor, who lost 3 of his last 4 fights, a part of this tournament and not Bute? What credentials do Andre Ward and Andre Dirrell have over Bute? They invited 2 other undefeated champions to be part of the tournament but not Bute. Bute has been on Showtime and he's a North American fighter." Majeski said to Boxingscene.com

"According to Majeski, there was never an offer presented by Showtime and Bute would have been happy to be part of the tournament."

"Bute will fulfill his mandatory (against Librado Andrade) and take on any and all of these fighters in the tournament and the same goes for Jean Pascal."

With his matchmaker Don Majeski issueing the above statements, why was Lucian Bute not asked to be a part of the tournament, in your opinion?

It's odd he or Green didn't get in on it.

Probably because he is less notable than Taylor, Ward, or Dirrell. Although Bute is more deserving in this situation than any of them, Olympians are always getting undeserved special treatment.
