Former boxing trainer and manager Vinny Vecchione died of a heart attack at his home in Rockland Thursday night.
Vecchione was named Ring Magazine Manager of the Year in 1995 and is best know as the manager of former heavyweight boxer Peter McNeeley, who fought Mike Tyson that same year. The fight was Tyson’s first since being released from prison and ended after just 89 seconds.
Vecchione also ran a gym in Brockton and also helped run the South Shore Boxing Club.
Services will be held at McMasters Funeral Home in Braintree on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
