This is what I keep asking. Is this really all it is? Surely they just can't be forgetting to pay their ***n taxes, it has to be mismanagement of what they owe or something? I just don't get it. How many of these guys are going to make the same mistake?

That means he get $15 million regardless of how many tickets are sold and regardless of when it was fought. According to the AP article (if it is accurate), he owes $6.4 milllion, which could easily be paid off with the money earned from the Marquez fight. Also, Ellerbe has a point. If Mayweather owed that much money to the IRS, the IRS would have already seized and sold his home or homes, taken everythign he owned and then placed a lien on any future earnings. Everything that is reported as facts are not true, even if you WANT to believe it. If you don't believe that, just watch Fox News at any point in the day. Everything they report is a distortion or a lie.
the irs give you time. they try getting the money anyway possible. how long is it going to take to sell the house?? by the time they sell the house the collection statue of limitation will pass and there is no way they could get that money then

The answer is simple. Taxes are not taken out of a boxer's purse. They are considered independent contractors, which means they have to pay their own taxes at tax time. If Mayweather earned $70 million that year, he has to pay taxes on that amount of money. If he doesn't pay it on time, he has to pay interest and penalties.

A lot of boxers have had problems with the IRS. Among them are the late Diego Corrales.

Let's see, he owes about 6 mil in taxes, he is late, he will be fined, maybe he owes more like 8 by the time sept comes around, he has to pay taxes on the so called 15 he will be earning, he still has other debts, lol let's see when he makes it rain again, I bet he don't make it rain any time soon unless he continues using conterfiet money again like he was before.

And I supposed Pacquaio is a huge draw?

You are right. If he were working at McDonald's, no woman would look at him twice. However, in terms of his looks, I never judge a man based on his looks. Howver, I will say this much. He got the nickname, "Pretty Boy" because he didn't get hit much and never suffered any facial damage. That is a lot more than you can say for Cotto in his bouts with Margarito and Clottey.

The reason why boxers go bankrupt I think is because they dont know how to spend their money wisely.
