    What's the Big ****ing Deal...

With hyping a fighter? What? Is hyping up a fighter a little early something wrong? Are we supposed to wait until the fighter is 40 fights and 2 weight divisions deep before he gets any hype? Hyping prospects and looking for the next star is what keeps the sport going. It would have been good if Juanma got some hype before knocking out Daniel Ponce de Leon in 1.

Most of us are fans of boxing so we are supposed to get ****ing hype about solid prospects or we aren't really boxing fans. Believe it or not, there are Jets fans that get excited about their potential each and every season (Newcastle United for the lads) and they never win ****. We aren't scouts, we don't have to get it right every time, we don't heavily invest money in these fighters, if you were wrong about a fighter and you were wrong, that's it. No repercussions except some **** thrown in your direction.

Grow some balls and dare to be wrong.

im all for my own hype... i like to get my hopes up about some up and coming fighters....

im not afraid to get on the hype wagon at times,

i just HATE excessive media hype... as in when the media is on someone's balls for no real reason... thats a huge turnoff!

          nothing wrong with it.

hyping up fighters you like is part of being a fan.

people are just trying to act all high and mighty.

too many people on here are too worried about trying to look unbiased and stuff.

I'm with you on that, still, its sad how hyped Ortiz was and how he wen't out. Everytime I'd switch to Espn, it was all about Ortiz. Matter of fact, they should hype those who have already been tested in the heart department. Quiting has become way too common now and its sickening.

              ummm......that fight was foty level.

people make too big a deal about him quitting.

he had a cut on one eye , his other eye was busted up , i'm sure he was tired as hell.

let's wait and see what he does the next time he gets tested.

              the kid is 22.

Some people quit, it happens. Izzy had a broken nose and he quit, that does not make him a quitter or heartless. The truth is, someone should have been knocked out in that Ortiz fight and I myself would rather quit than end up looking like this below

This is the only sport where you are forced to die in, if you run and you pull a muscle, you have to quit but in boxing you have to die?

Exactly. It's not like we're supposed to criticize every single fighter, without hype boxing wouldn't be as good.

some guys will fight to the death , others not so much.

it's not like he quit for no reason. he was busted up and exhausted.

if he learns from this he'll get better. if he doesn't oh well.

either way too early to say which.
