    Hand Injuries In Boxing

I have had the same injury in my left hand (southpaw) since my last sparring from around May 14, 2009. This injury happened because I sometimes have the habit of punching while my hand is not fully closed, which is especially painful when punching someone in the forehead - I was wearing 16 oz. Casanova Gloves. It's been nearly two months now and it does not seem to be getting any better. I have a lot of pain at the mcp joint and the proximal phalanx of my middle finger and also some minor pain in my index finger. I had x-rays taken and nothing is broken so I don't think its a bone issue. However, I noticed that I cannot pull on my middle finger to crack it, which is something I do with my other fingers - I feel a lot of pain when I pull on it. I am very frustrated with this injury because it has kept me away from boxing for a good while now.

Also, I have been going to a therapist for about a week and a half and they have me taking some medication and have been using some machines on me that run electric current through my hand. However, I have not noticed much progress with respect to the pain going away - sometimes I leave the with more pain.

Any advice on the subject would be appreciated.
