Honestly they have similar styles. Both guys were great boxer punchers with versatility. Difference being that Arguello's main weapon was the jab and Oscar's was the left hook.

actually I remember commentators mentioning that De La Hoya told them that Arguello was his idol, I think it was during the Angelo Nunez fight, I think it was that fight cause I was watching some old Oscar fights and remembered hearing thatComment

What is up with everyone here lately? Who says you can only have one idol? What utter absurdity. I have lots of idols in both music (my career) and boxing. I think anyone around Oscar's age would have Arguello as one of their major idols, along with the Fab Four guys, Chavez etc etc. All of these guys would have been huge idols to boxers and you are all bagging him for speaking out about the loss of one of everyone's idols.
I don't think there was any fighter alive that didn't idolise Arguello at that time. He was everything that was perfect about this sport and after some reporter probably asked Oscar his opinion, you guys all rip on him?
Do you think he only ever watched Chavez or something and never any other boxer? Or isn't he allowed to like anyone but Chavez?
Rip on Oscar all you want about whatever it is that you think he's done, but one of the sports greatest ever fighters just died and you rip on him for expressing loss at that?Comment
