I think much of this depends on the circumstance. There are a lot of fights that could be potential blockbuster sellouts and while others just chose to remain on the side lines to evaluate the boxing landscape ala Shane Mosley, (not that I agree with Shane putting himself on the shelf to collect dust).

        Peace

the dont want to take a pay cut in the recession. they think cos they were making, eg 1.5M a fight a year ago they should earn at least that for their next fight.

Fighters who usually stay activate and fight atleast 3 times a year, usually become a fan of mine for that simple reason. Im a huge fan of Shane Mosley but he needs to be active.

I think generally today fighters are much more inactive. DLH was a classic example of an inactive fighter. He went from 4 fights a year to 1 or 2 year and a year off here and there. After he beat Mayorga he didn't fight for exactly another year.

Inactivity can sometimes be a downfall of a fighter. I'm not saying they should be in wars 4 times a year, but some of them should stay more active.
