    angulo Will be back!
    most recent article:
July 01, 2009 EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: ALFREDO "PERRO" ANGULO
    By Ryan Burton

********** speaks to junior middleweight prospect Alfredo "Perro" Angulo.

Ryan Burton: What is new with you?

Alfredo Angulo: What is new with me? Well I am back from my vacation and I have returned to the gym to get ready for August 27th.

RB: So your next fight is August 27th?

AA: Yes it is. I would tell you with who I honestly forgot. I will get that information to you later.

RB: Where is the fight going to take place.

AA: At Buffalo Bill's in Primm, NV.

RB: What network is going to televise it.

AA: It will be on ESPN. Just it will be on a Thursday.

RB: We spoke after your loss to Kermit Cintron. Now that you have a had a little while to think about it do you have a different opinion about the fight?

AA: Well I am past it. The fight with Cintron wasn't the fight I thought it would be. He wasn't the fighter I thought he would be either.

RB: I take it you would like a rematch down the road?

AA: I never look for any particular fight. The reason why I want a rematch with Cintron is because I know Cintron isn't better than me and I know I wasn't 100%. I want the rematch because I want to prove to the people that support me that wasn't the real me that lost that fight. It makes me feel sad for the people that support me that I lost that fight. I want to show the fans the real Perro.

RB: I know you well enough to know you aren't the type of person to make excuses. If you were to fight him again when you are 100% healthy....

AA: (interupting) It won't go the distance. It definitley won't go 12 rounds.

RB: Cintron boxed very well the first 6-7 rounds then he seemed to put his running shoes on like he was out of gas to fight. He had enough points to win and didn't want to risk anything. What do you think?

AA: There was a 10 lb weight difference that night. I was 159 lbs and he was 169 lbs. I didn't ever get hurt from his punches.

RB: Prior to that fight you only had 15 pro fights. Do you think it was too soon to fight an experienced fighter like Cintron?

AA: No. I will fight whoever they put in front of me. I think that he has 2 hands, 2 feet and a head and I have 2 hands, 2 feet and a head just like him. I am still learning as I go but I will fight whoever they put in front of me.

RB: You live in Southern California but haven't fought there in a while even though you have a lot of fans in California. Would you like to fight there in the near future?

AA: I have spoken to Gary (Shaw) a few times and he is working on a project to have a fight at Staples.

RB: I just got off the phone with Victor Ortiz. His fight didn't go his way but he had over 8,500 fans at Staples.

AA: I was there. There were a lot of people there. I don't know how many exactly but there were a lot. There are a lot of Latinos, especially Mexicans in Los Angeles and they really support the fighters.

RB: To me it would be a natural for you to headline a fight at Staples or at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

AA: The fight I had with Andrey Tsurkan at Pechanga Resort and Casino (Southern California) was a sell out so I think I would do well in California. When a Mexican fights in California it is a little bit different. A lot of the Mexican fans will come out and support the fighters.

RB: After what happened in your fight with Cintron if you get sick again a few days before a fight are you still going to take the fight or are you going to try to get it postponed?

AA: (laughing) I don't think I will get sick again right before a fight. I have the doctor close by.

RB: Do you have a message for the fans? I know you do.

AA: The same as always. I apologize to the fans that they didn't get the best Perro last time. They were left with a bad taste in their mouthes and when they hear the name Perro Angulo they will get a good fight. Sick or not sick I am still going to give them the best I have to make the people happy.

His people have to be very careful with who they put him in with.

Put him in with Joel Julio, lets see if Angulo is as good as Kirkland.

If they did that, than I'd have to say that he wasn't sick against Cintron like he claims if he takes the easy way back up and avoids boxers.
