No more fights Tito! Last saturday, after the Ortiz and Juanma fights, my friends and I pulled out DVDs of Tito's old fights for a Guatemalan friend of ours who didnt follow boxing until about last year. After about 5 fights, and a long series of ooohs and aaahs, he just looked at us and said, "This guy was an animal." Warrior Tito, thats who I will always remember.

What actually happened was that Trinidad had one fist wrapped before Hopkins' man got to the dressing room, and he chose to make a stink about it forcing Papa to unwrap and re-wrap again. Because of the rumor mill Papa gave a TV demonstration of exactly how he wrapped Felix's hands and said he ALWAYS did them exactly the same way.

Trinidad = Maybe, Speculation, No One Really Knows. Never formally accused, inquired or penalized


There's an obvious difference. And while Trinidad is beloved, respected and with his place in Canastota assured, Margarito - loaded gloves or not - will be denied any possibility for a chance to do the same.

I used to love the guy - who didn't? You just had to appreciate his charisma, his skills and his tenacity. To take the punishment he took in the Cotto fight and still come forward for 11 rounds and knock the other guy out - loaded gloves or not - is remarkable. It is 100% crystal clear that he wanted it more that night and he deserved the victory - loaded gloves or not.

The same people that claim to know enough about boxing to understand the unfair advantage of the supposed use of extra tape or extra gauze will claim that it is possible that Margarito couldn't know inserts were put in his wraps.

It wasn't as you say, but, Papa Trinidad showed that the way he always did the wrappings were, sort of, special to him. He used a pad of -I think- gauze covered cotton wool on the back of Felix's hand, allowed it to project enough past the knuckles so that he could makle a fold back to double cover the knuckles. He
demonstrated this very clearly, and said he ALWAYS wrapped fists the very same way, that it protected the knuckles more (when the pad is doubled back) and it was all perfectly legal, also nobody had ever objected to the way he wrapped fists.

As I said in an earlier post, Hopkins' rep was late to Trinidad's dressing room and one glove, al;ready wrapped was unwrapped. There was no question of any illegal wraps, that was purely news speculation, which forced Papa, asI said earlier to demonstrate hjs system on camera.

Then as my faint memory digs it up, I think Teddy Atlas or someone like him made it clear that bandages and wraps are NOT to make you a harder puncher, and DON'T, but solely to protect the knuckles, the hands, through which a fighter has to make his living.

You've obviously never had your hands wrapped to box and don't know what you're talking about. So you resort to making things up; I never said Margarito didn't know about the inserts in his wraps, in fact, I started by saying he's a cheater.

Do any of you morons know anything about boxing? Or do you just watch it on t.v. and read about it on the internet? Cause if you did you would know what a tremendous advantage it is just to have tape over the knuckles under wraps, let alone tape over gauze over tape over gauze. There's a reason why that kind of thing is not allowed. Stop adoring your false idol and think or ask someone that knows.

You are so in love with hate that you sound dumb right now.. What Tito had in his gloves does NOT compare to what Margarito had, he did not use INSERTS or did not try to cheat. Margarito is a disgrace just like u for your country, now live with it.
