Jones was definitely quicker, but you gotta remember ali was a much physically bigger man and easily the quickest heavyweight of all time. Jones was quicker but ali was only just slower but his punches were probably twice as powerful when he connected.
RJJ - Ali - Who the fastest?

Roy's hands were definitely faster and he had all around better reflexes, Ali had 10x the chin but I dont know about twice the power he wasnt known for 1 punch knockouts he just hit you so many times, I would have loved to watch the fight though I think it would have been competitiveComment

you know how you exhale when you do a rep when lifting weights, it helps you exert more force. its the same thing with a punch although, jones is the only one ive ever seen to make the sound that drasticly.Comment

I'd just like to say that this is not the slam dunk everyone might think it is in terms of hand speed.Originally posted by acquittedRjj By Far "had" More Speed..but Roy Isnt A Heavyweight
If you check out Ali clips from the early and mid-60's, you may find some where he puts his rapid fire handspeed on display, and I gotta tell you, it's impressive. As in blindingly fast.
Now I have no doubt that in terms of overall athletic quickness, RJJ takes it over Ali (Roy could launch a punch from 10 feet away and have it explode on his opponent's chin before he could even flinch), but in terms of just sheer handspeed, I don't think it's nearly so clearcut...Comment
