I'm happy to hear this from Linares. For a while there I thought he just had the intention of winning vacant belts and defending them against bums. But if this is true, then I was wrong. But why does he need another fight in Japan before he decides to fight Soto? Soto is not going to stay at 130 forever. That's why this challenge is a bluff to me. I think Linares is good, but not as good as what a lot of people make him out to be. I think Soto would beat him.Comment

I just watched Linares' fight from Saturday and man that guy Perez that he fought did not belong in the ring with him lol. I have no idea why he keeps fighting guys like this. Linares has not looked as impressive as he did in the Larios fight in any of his fights since then. He's been fighting very mediocre competition too.
A fight between Linares-Soto would be good. Screw fighting in Japan in October, just make this fight happen now. No need to fight some bum in Japan first.Comment

Gotta admire Linares's bravery, but he doesn't really want what would be coming from Soto. Soto by 10th round ko.Comment

I think it's fair for Linares to take 1 fight before Soto because of his inactivity of recent years due to injuries. Whereas Soto has already had 2 fights this year, i think Linares has only had 2 in nearly 2 years. A warm-up is much needed before the big step up.
I do however agree that Soto may be too much for Linares.Comment
