Maybe I'm just talking rubbish, but I've always believed in a form of destiny in boxing. Whether it's to achieve, or to lose and thereby help someone else achieve (would Ali have been as great if it wasn't for Foreman?) I think there's always a pattern.
How many boxers just exist without changing the landscape? Jerry Quarry, maybe? I know there are journeymen but for now we can forget them.
Maybe you think I'm just talking rubbish. Or maybe those patterns can only be seen after the fact. But I mention this because I've always believed Danny Williams has underachieved and if he arises to greatness next month, then it will have a sense of purpose behind it.
Yet if Klitschko gets blown away in just his first defence, what happens to his story? And what happens to little Klit, who seems destined to visit the canvas in every major bout? Or Joe Mesi?
