Pac vs Cotto should not be for the welterweight title

    It's bullcrap TBH.

You should not be able to gain the welterweight title of the world at 145 pounds. The welterweight class is at 147 pounds. To win a title at Welterweight, you SHOULD fight at 147 pounds. Any less than 147 pounds is NOT a welterweight fight. And if a fight is not a welterweight fight, why would you win a welterweight title?

I'm a Pac fan and I'm Pinoy and I would love it if he won the Welterweight title of the world... But I won't be able to stand it if Manny won it if the fight were not a welterweight fight!

This is like Cotto winning the Jr. Welterweight title of the world at 145 pounds. It's ridiculous.

      .

that last statement i agree with 100% and shows just how silly it is to have a belt on the line at a catchweight fight

this is some dumbass **** and im worried that its a phase that it catching on - i hear roy jones vs danny green (2 LHW's) are going to be fighting for a cruiserweight belt depite the fact that neither has actually campaigned at 200lbs.

your statment shows you dont know much about boxing son. 147 is the WW limit meaning anything between 141-147 is a WW fight..........
Why you see most WW fighters weigh in at 147 is because they are draining their bodies to make the limit, menso.......

If they put the belt up let them come in at 147. I don't think the weight will hurt Pac's chances much so might as well make it legit.

This is true. Whether you guys like this fight or not some people need to realize this is a legitimate welter weight fight and it isn't out of the rules to have the titles on the line (has happened a number of times throughout history, JCC vs Whitaker was at 145 for Whitakers welterweight belts).

i agree 1o0% that it shouldnt be a welterweight title fight if itsz not a welterweight fight as well as it not being fair if Cotto winning the JR. Welterweight at 145 .

i mean i admire both boxers and have plenty respect for them both .

if they are up for the fight so be it but title wise i rather not be up for it .

and as far as i knew pac was at the Cotto Vs. Clottey fight and HE wanted to fight Cotto . . . so i wouldnt say Cotto is lowering himself either because the '*****' card can be thrown either way ,,, if he had turned the fight down he's a '*****' for backing down and taking the fight he's a '*****' for fighting someone smaller ??? i think pac is amazing and its a fight i'd be willing to watch with excitement .

If it's for Cottos belt then he should be allowed to come in at 147, and paquiao can come in anywhere from 141-147.
