I think I'll make a Willie Mays avatar to counteract all the Michael ones.

The media ruined Jackson's image, media ruins everybody.

If boxingscene existed in 1996, you would have seen 2pac avatars all over, they'll deny it now because the 'mourning' 2pac trend is over. They're not around now because they got over Pac. I'm assuming Jackson will be as forgotten in a way(as in people stop making a big deal about it).

Where were the MJ avatars when he was alive?

You could have showed love to MJ while he was alive by putting MJ avatars, but you do it now that he's gone. Which looks like you're just going with the flow and being followers.

No offense to the posters who do have MJ avatars, i'm just speaking out my mind.

R.I.P. Michael Jackson, I hope you can see how many posters on Boxingscene have you in their avatars now that you're gone.
Funny, i was just thinkin about 2pac as an Avatar cus he died...i wouldn't rock it though.

But it's just funny how you said, the media totally scrutinzed and critized his *****, but now he's like the hottest thing since sliced bread. How many Mj jokes has there been? The controversies and *****.

I grew up on MJ...i'm just not into the hype that's all.

jeah...maad props to East Coast. NYC.

I've seen ree****yaluss talk of his love for MJ's work a bunch of times here in the past.

I've been spinning Mike's tunes for 20 some years.

Whenever I've seen a thread on Mike's stuff on any music messageboard I've been on in the past, I've gone in and thrown in my 2¢, whether it was to make a case for the critically overlooked parts of his catalogue or just to chat it up about my favorite moves, tunes, whatever.

I don't know why anybody needs to read something disingenuous into a few MJ fans here showing their love and appreciation in the form of avatars and sigs.
Sure, a lot of hypocrites are emoting along with faux-grief in the wake of Mike's passing, but most of 'em ain't here. Here, if anywhere, on a forum filled with real (many cynical and hardboiled) people and not buzzards, you can pretty much bank on any respect shown to Mike being genuine. So we weren't all rocking him in our avatars last week, big deal. Doesn't mean the appreciation wasn't there in other aspects of our lives. Doesn't mean Mike wasn't there in our hearts and prayers.

If a few of us want to remember the dude in our avatars, let it be.

Hey, no problem man. You can show your appreciation on here. It just seems that some posters do it to follow, I feel like Reed really means his mourning and i'll take your word for it that you are a big fan of his music. I'm saying, everyone misses him and appreciates him now. You know like Alec Baldwin is not dead, and there he is in my avi getting love from me for his performance in GlenGarry Glen Ross, i'm not waiting till he dies to do it.

But like i said, it's no offense. Its' all cool especially because i know several months from now, posters will go back to avi's of their fave boxers and MJ's name is just going to be whispered in the wind. I love MJ, like i said, i got my lazy ass up from here to pay homage to him at The Apollo where he debuted at 9 years old. So i'm def not hating.

Yeah, we know. You said already. But the hype isn't really on this forum, it's mostly just some fans paying their respects.

Go preach your Gospel at the TV and the newspapers and the gossip blogs. You're just preaching to preachers here.
