Is it true that Golden Boy stole Victor Ortiz from Top Rank?

Anybody know if there's any truth to the reports about Golden Boy Promotions (with the help of Shelly Finkel) stole Victor Ortiz after Top Rank first discovered Ortiz and developed him into a fine prospect?

If this is true, then it's maybe bad karma to GBP about what happened last Saturday night.

Anybody know the real story, care to enlighten us? Thanks.

Ortiz left Top Rank himself. He said he was unhappy with the fights, money, and exposure he was getting and said Top Rank made promises they didn't keep.

It is absolutely true. His manager, Shelly "The Fink" Finkel, instructed Ortiz that his contract with TR became void if he filed bankruptcy. "Fink" had a deal cut with GBP already and instructed Ortiz to sign with GBP for a modest signing bonus. Ortiz's bonus is probably about 30% of what "Fink" got behind closed doors for bring Ortiz to GBP

Not true. He filed for bankruptcy to get out of his contract because Finkel advised him to do so. Fink already had cut a deal with GBP.

You seem to know the story, do you know when did this happen?

I mean who was Ortiz' first opponent fighting under Golden Boy?

Do you think Top Rank would've managed his career better?

Top Rank is ***** ****, same promoting company that won't allow Pavlik to fight Paul Williams or Arthur Abraham. Atleast Golden Boy Promotions puts their fighters in with tests. After Pavlik lost to Bhop, Arum is afraid to put Pavlik in with any other top fighters.
