I agree with these two guys. Paul might be the only one that can beat him right now.

Well he is now 25-0 with 16 KO's. and last time out he did stop decent Andrey Tsurkan. and he has beat some good records. so to be honest a title shot cant be to far away. especailly if yuri foreman is nearly getting one.

and he did also stop Charles Howe in 1 round with ease, and howe how took John duddy's unbeaten record, so thats a good win aswell.

and he beat Billy Lyell by UD with an injured hand... Lyell went on to upset John Duddy and give Duddy his first loss...

not sure if Martinez is one of the four current champs Vanes should go after now (although I like his chances against anyone at 154), he probably would do better against IBF champ Cory Spinks...

Vanes before the Tsurkan fight was ranked #11 by IBF, and should be Top 10 for next month.

Vanes still has a lot to learn before he can challenge Martinez, don't forget Martinez has almost twice as many fights as Vanes. Not Now and definitely not Martinez. I think he can give vanes the most trouble in the weight class. plenty of other good fights out there that I like Vanes in. he definitely beats Spinks, definitely beats any other prospect in the division. no need to rush him to Martinez at this point. this kid has a wealth of talent and its gonna take a little more to get him to the level of Martinez.

I like Vanes, but step by step he will be great, Cotto didn't fought the elite till later in his career.

Vanes is getting better with each and every fight, BUT Martinez has to much speed, underrated power and ring generalship, to early for Vanes. He need to get in there with someone with speed who has lateral movement. Once he fights a couple of guys like I described and looks good, I think he will be ready to step up to the upper echelon. I would not mind seeing Vanes in there with a spinks type.

ya I think Spinks is definitely the weakest champ in the division at this time and Vanes would definitely hold his own against Spinks... maybe thats the thread that should be made... Spinks vs. Martirosyan, and a poll too
