HBO needs to stop licking oscar's ass and split up those dates between both Top Rank AND Golden Boy Promotions

at this point, Top Rank has a deep enough talent pool to give us more than a juan diaz-paulie malinaggi bout
You're not excited about Diaz/Malinaggi? That fight ends one of two ways. Malinaggi doesn't throw rights and we explain that with the fact that his hand is constantly breaking. Or Diaz cuts and melts down. Obviously Malinaggi mailing in a questionable performance(then blaming it on hand) is more likely. Nonetheless, this particular bout is unlikely to tell us much about either fighter.

And I'm sure i can name about 50 more guys. Why do you think Pacquiao, Valero, Gamboa and all of these other guys went to him?
BPP wasn't gonna stand for your shennanigans!

I know Ortiz lost last night against a fighter who had the role of a stepping stone. But Arum's philosophy is to protect fighters and deny good match ups and it alienates the boxing fans. Ortiz will be thrown under the bus by a lot of people for the fact that he quit. But to me, it is better to see a young fighter take a loss than have to watch these protected cash cows beat up on bums.

I think Golden Boy has done a way better job of putting on quality fights than Arum has. Although the split of TV dates needs to be more fair. Arum has made some mishaps with some of his fighters too. How about throwing Pavlik in with Hopkins? I wonder if Arum puts his fighters in non-competitive match ups on PPV because he feels like HBO doesn't have enough money or TV dates with his fighters. And as a result, he doesn't feel like it is worth it to match his star fighers like Juan Ma Lopez tough on PPV because the Latin fan base will buy it anyway. He probably figures that the TV network should have to be willing to buy it it if the fight is going to be competitive. And that's understandable I guess.

Ortiz is clearly still very raw and really looks to have needed more rounds of experience. He spoke as though he was considering quitting boxing! Hindsight is 20/20 but this was clearly the wrong fight for him. Hopefully he'll use it as a wakeup call to fix up his defense and start jabbing.. It might be time for him to make some changes in his team as well.

Umm.. If there is anything at all remotely decent to do that night my friends won't be watching it. However if it's a slow saturday, then I can convince them to watch the fruity looking guy from Brookyn get another likely stomping. Personally, I like Paulie ever since I read his Ring Q&A. However, we can do better than this. Bradley/Cambell has this fight owned.

I think it's a week or so after that(can't remember either).. There is a huge void on HBO between now and the next fight though.. Khan Kotelnik is also coming soon..

Isn't Bob Arum the reason fights like Pavlik vs Williams won't happen and Pavlik vs Abraham? Because he feels it will be too much of a risk for one of his fighters to fight tough opposition?
