Vic Darchinyan to part ways with Gary Shaw for Golden Boy?

    June 26, 6:10 PM

WBC/WBA/IBF Super Flyweight Champion, "The Raging Bull" Vic Darchinyan who is moving up in weight against Joseph "King Kong" Agbeko on July 11 for the IBF bantamweight belt at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida is down to his last fight under his current contract with promoter Gary Shaw. After his fight against Agbeko, Darchinyan can opt to sign with a different promoter and leave Gray Shaw Promotions.

Although it's unlikely that Gary Shaw will let go of Darchinyan without giving a fight, my sources have indicated that Golden Boy Promotions has expressed interest in signing Darchinyan. GBP has the power and money to entice the Armenian-born slugger from Australia and a move with Golden Boy will also put Darchinyan on HBO.

Shaw, who is still managing the likes of Rafael Marquez and Chad Dawson and also used to manage Manny Pacquiao, will be in for the fight of his life to try and re-sign Darchinyan, as "The Raging Bull" who is now ranked in the top 10 Pound-for-Pound boxers in the world by Golden Boy owned Ring Magazine, is considered a blue chip acquisition.

Another plus that can come out of Darchinyan moving out of Gary Shaw's stable is the possibility of a rematch against the one person who has put a blemish in Darchinyan's career, Nonito Donaire Jr. Shaw has been quoted multiple times and has made it public that he would not allow Donaire to fight his prized ward again.

But if Darchinyan, who is now aged 33 years-old, wants to land a big contract with any promoter, he needs to take care of business on July 11. Surely there will be a lot of eyes following this fight closely as Darchinyan, with his ****y nature and devastating fists, has polarized the sport from fans, to his opponents and promoters alike.

The fight will be televised live on SHOWTIMEŽ (9 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the west coast) and is also co-promoted by Don King Promotions.

I'll be glad for Vic if he does dump Gary Shaw. But what will be his excuse if he doesn't rematch Donaire?

he doesnt need an excuse... VIC has been callin out Donaire for a rematch since the following day of his loss...

VIC to Golden Boy would be nice, bigger paydays with HBO and a real good chance at that rematch with Donaire.

It seems to me like Gary Shaw hasn't treated Vic all that bad. He re-built him after that KO loss to Nonito. Hell, Nonito is the one who did the right thing by abandoning Shaw's ass. Darchinyan is the one who has benefitted from him.

This would be an idiotic move for Vic. Shaw has got him and kept him on Showtime when a lot of lower weighters couldn't/can't get on. Darch has probably made more money than any fighter under 130 not named Vazquez, Marquez, Juarez, or John.

It would be great for the us though.

I think him and Shaw are quite close and Shaw has been very good for Darchinyan so I'm not sure if it will happen or not. Shaw has made many great match ups for him though so I think he should stay with him.

vic is going to have his hands full. hope he isnt looking past this agbeko.
he was looking so improved against mijares then reverted back in the arce fight.
when he steps up against skilled guys he's going to need defense.

word but if vic can't feel 100% happy till he rematches nonito then he has no choice but to leave
