Jorge Linares wants to unify with Humberto Soto

Jorge Linares, the Venezuelan champion, mentioned his interest in unifying his WBA super feather weight title with Mexico's Humberto Soto and his WBC strap. The 26-0 fighter who has a scheduled meeting in the ring to defend his title against Josafat Perez(12-1) tomorrow in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico but is thinking about the future and his hopes of landing the fight with Soto by next year.

“Hopefully I will come out healthy after tomorrows bout against Josaphat. I will then fight in October at a venue in Japan because I have not fought there in three years Japan is like my second home. If all goes well I will then unify with Humberto Soto”, confirmed Linares

At only 23 years old. The 5’8” Venezuelan has won 2 world championships in 2 weight divisions, the WBC feather weight title whom he won by beating Oscar Larios and the WBA super feather weight title. Linares has great technical skills but has had problems with inactivity because of injuries or troubles with scheduled bouts being cancelled. He won the WBC belt in July2007 against Oscar Larios in Las Vegas but only defended the belt once against Gamaliel Diaz in Cancun Mexico. Originally from Barinas, Venezuela and residing in Tokyo, Japan, Linares flew to Nuevo Laredo with a group of Japanese news reporters who made the trip to follow the young Champion. From the time he put gloves on as a child, Linares showed potential, winning the gold medal in the Venezuelan national Jr. Olympics at age 14 in 199. By 2000 he had won the national Venezuelan sub-championship and in 2001 the national championship to compile an amateur career of 89 wins and only 5 losses before jumping up to the pros. In regards to his opponent this Saturday, Linares stated that even though he is the favorite because he is the champion, that he takes every opponent seriously.

“ I never get too over confident with any of my opponents and I don’t over look no one. I always prepare my self seriously with a lot of sparring that has a little of everything because you can never be too sure in that ring.”

“I just want to get in that ring and show what I am capable of.”

Jorge Linares is going to win. The dude has a very unorthodox punching style but I think he will take it.

Valero... I wasn't one to believe the hype about him at first but really... Just look at Pacquiao before he became god of the phillipines. That's what I see in Valero. Dude has lead hands, a bit wild but so was pacquiao. Not as fast but whatever, can make up for that once he loses and gets a better trainer.

Soto can't deal with boxers. Guzman made him look really bad and he didn't look too good in his last fight and that was against an average opponent. No offense, I like Soto but he isn't beating Linares and I'm willing to bet.

No **** pink. I can't believe how many people are jumping on this guys jock. He's literally fought nobody.

Paul Williams is ok, I just think he's a ***** for picking on WW's when its so clearly not his weight class.
