Don't jinx it. He has to get past Maidana first. For some reason (gut feeling) Ortiz doesn't convince me just yet, but I'll keep following him as he fights on.Comment

Im tellin yall, hes gonna be the man in the next few years..... p4p by 2010.... he beats campbell, bradley, hatton, and khan fairly easily if he fights them now..... even at 147, he can beat the likes of berto, and maybe even cotto or mosley in the future, if he continues to improve....call me ******, but i see something special in this dude.....He's so talented, it would be tragic if he retired anything short of th HOF
btw, have you watched izzy/rafa, castillo/coralles or gatti/ward yet???Comment

I didn't say I didn't like him :P Just that I'm not convinced he'll be everything everyone expects him to be just yet. I'm always wary of people pumping up a young fighter heralding him as the next big thing. Stuff happens during careers, so I like to take things on a fight by fight basis. Only time will tell where a fighter will end up.Comment

Lets at least see if he gets past Maidiena on Saturday before you annoint him as the second coming of Ray Robinson.
This Maideina kid is no cupcake. Not the fastest guy in the world, but he can crack. Good test for a prospect like Ortiz. (and yes, when your best opponent to date is Arnaoutis, you are still a prospect)Comment

Carlos Maussa is a former world champ with fights against Hatton, Vivian Harris and Miguel Cotto, all of whom had significant trouble with his unorthodox style. Cotto and Hatton both beat him in the later rounds and of course he won the title from Harris.
Mike Arnaoutis has fought the large majority of top guys at 140 pounds including Torres, Holt, Urango, as well as others like Jesse Felicianno. He only lost close fights to Holt and Torres over the distance, one a SD and the other a close UD. He was knocked out in two by Ortiz.
Resto was another good fighter with wins over former champs Livingstone Bramble, Saul Duran, with only two losses, one of those coming from the aforementioned Maussa.
Of course Emmanuel Clottey and Martin Cordova Jr were also pretty good fighters as well. His next opponent is very solid, having only lost one fight which happened to be a really close SD loss for the WBA JWW title against Kotelnik (some thought he should have won it). It will be a good step and should be a good fight. He has also knocked out every single opponent apart from his title shot fight.Comment

The way Holt hit Bradley so easy when he let his hands go tells me that Ortiz would put it on him. Ortiz' size advantage and patience tells me the hammer would get dropped on Bradley.

Maidana is solid overall, but his shots are pretty wide. He better have a great chin cuz Vicious will be punching in between them.Comment
