After Pacquiao, Cotto, Mosley, Mayweather, Marquez all fight each other it seems like they will all retire. I think its setting up boxing fans for ultimate high and then crash like a roller coaster. It should be all cleared up by 2011, but after that what should we expect from boxing?
So then what...

There's a lot of promise out there. Who would've thought in 2004 that we would be seeing Miguel Cotto vs Manny Pacquiao? After Pacquiao, Cotto, Mosley, Mayweather, Marquez all fight each other it seems like they will all retire. And I don't believe all those guys will be totally done by 2011. Shane Mosley was in his prime in 2000-2002...and 7 yrs later is the Weltwerweight champion. -
You kidding? It never stops. Remember how everyone was whining about how boxing would die when Oscar retired? And then Tyson before him? Leonard? Ali? On and on.After Pacquiao, Cotto, Mosley, Mayweather, Marquez all fight each other it seems like they will all retire. Valero's probably gonna upset 1 or 2 of em for a start.. Then someone (we don't know about yet) will probably do it to him, & so on.... Good fighters come along like buses, normally when you're least expecting them....Comment

I'm not saying its going to die, just want to know who people think will pick up the slack. I don't think its going to be the same because the people that are leaving have been keeping it relevant to the mainstream post Tyson.
Yeah I expect Lopez, Valero, Ortiz to keep the lower divisions exciting but not sure how much they will cross over. The wheels on the bus go round and round, always have and always will..

I'm just saying have all the top guys in boxing every bowed out all at once around the same time? Especially after fighting each other would bring the sport lots of attention and mega fights without anything for the mainstream to follow up on.Comment

Someone will pick up the slack. Pacquiao wasn't a big name a couple years ago too.Comment
