I don't, they're close, but Vitali has the edge.

Peter had only been beat once and it was by Wlad in a close fight while knokcing him down 3 times along the way; Vitali dominated him and knocked him out. Gomez is one of the 5 or 10 best cruisers ever with only one loss in 40+ fights and it was when he was grossly out of shape and doing a ton of coke.

Even though he shut him out, Wlad-Ibragimov was a bad performance and an even worse fight. Wlad-Chagaev was solid though.

The accumulation of both fights puts Vitali slightly ahead, but Wlad is/was #1 because of quality.

lineal would be the more logical of the two.

I have a mixed opinion about it I guess. But I don't really view him as the legit champ, because I think Vitali is better. He also holds convincing a victory over the guy that destroyed Vlad. And does anybody think Vlad could've been competitive with even the out of shape version of Lennox that Vitali fought? I don't.

He is The Champion, thus he is starting a new lineage. No, he didnt gain the title in a linear manner, but he has created a new one.
            Its really not that complicated.

Wlad is the Lineal Champion since Vitali retired for several years and he's clearly THE Champion at the moment... Once you're retired you lose your Lineal status even if you unretire IMO.

Wlad right now would be competitive if not victorious against any version of Lewis, as would Vitali.
