Not trying to hate on Cotto but...

Alright, regarding Cotto... I like the chap, I really do. That being said, I really don't believe that he beat Clottey comprehensively enough to deserve a lot of the praise he's been getting on NSB since his fight. That fight was bloody exciting, and bloody close (as well as being just straight bloody), but after his performance, I was actually left with more questions than answers (as I was about Froch after the taylor fight). I just don't believe that his victory was complete enough to ensure his competative performance against pac. Anyway, that's my opinion.... any thoughts?

Nobody wanted to answer but I will, first off Froch KO'd Taylor, that left no doubt, none!!!Fact is Cotto has fought the best,in doing that,**** gets ugly,I don't think he beat Clottey, but in the end,it don't matter because they gave it to Cotto, all we can do is be kool and know that, this next fight will go to the one who deserves it!!!

I had it a draw, or Clottey winning by a point, the first time I saw it, but after re watching the fight I have Cotto winning. I do agree with you that it was definitely a close fight, and Cotto did not look to well, but in all fairness I don't think anyone would look that well with a huge gash above there eye. I do hope Cotto corrects some things in the future, and I see him performing better in his next fight. Hopefully the fight is in Nov though so it can give him enough time to heal!!!

clottey is very tough and with only partial version in his left eye for most of the fight you have to give cotto a hell of a lot of credit for winning the fight, however close it was

Hell yes everyone else would have had trouble with Clottey. And I don't just give him credit for winning the fight (Though I had it a draw) I think that the guys balls are huge just for finishing it. That being said, Cotto should have been able to get a KO or a few more KDs in that fight. The reason for this is that aside from Clottey having some great speed, decent power, his footwork is DREADFUL. Not so much the speed of it, but because every time he threw a hayemaker, he ended up off balance, often on one foot. Cotto, being a decent counterpuncher should have been able to capitalise upon that.

Really? Froch v Taylor didn't leave you wondering about a couple things? Like Froch ignoring his corner, Froch having an absolutely abysmal defence etc. Don't get me wrong, Froch is probably my favourite active fighter now, and has been in my top 5 for some time. I just don't think he's as good as he COULD be, and all my reasons why are things he could fix. If he doesn't fix those things, somebody's going to have to teach him IN the ring.

This is odd to say, but I think Froch will be a much better fighter AFTER he gets defeated.
