Why I think Cotto will beat Packy.

This isn't intended as a flame thread, just one man's honest opinion on the upcoming fight.
I have already made peace with the Pinoy brotherhood and we have broken e-bread on many a hijacked thread.

Having said that, here's why Miguel will win this fight.

    1) Level of comparative opposition. Miguel has had battles with harder hitting, more rugged and durable opposition than Manny. Mosley, Clottey, Judah, Margarito.

My sense tells me that if he can fight these guys there won't be much that will surprise him about Manny's physicality. Speed included. I consider Judah and Mosley to be in the same ballpark hand speed wise.

    2) The straight right hand. We all know Manny's a sucker for it and Cotto has a very good straight right hand and often puts a wrecking ball left hook behind it.

    3) Footwork. Manny is pure devastation against come forward plodders, i.e Diaz, Hatton or a stationary Oscar.
Miguel Cotto is known as a come forward attacker but he also has great footwork when he needs to box.

These things combined with the slightly natural size advantage will win Cotto this fight either by late k.o or a U.D.

    What do ya'll think?

I think Pac is gonna eat a lot of Jabs. Pac's in and out movement is great, his feet are ****in lightning. But I can see Cotto eventually timing it, and I can actually see him catching him with a stiff jab as Pac is jumping in to throw a combination, and flooring him, EXACTLY like the Clottey knockdown. I don't know why, but I really see that happening.

But if Cotto pumps his jab enough and cuts down on Manny's aggression, he should win. I think the major storyline of the fight is how Manny reacts to getting hit by Cotto. This isn't gonna be Oscar or Hatton, Manny WILL get hit.

Fair points, but what cracks me up is Hatton was supposed to hit Pacquiao and make it a grueling fight. Good post though.

**** man that guy's deserved it for a long time. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often and more severely.

The roll he's on will be huge psychologically. I think Manny pretty much feels invincible right now.

Props to both dudes for making a fight fans fight.

I never saw that Hatton fight that way. I thought it would either be ugly because of Hatton's mauling style or somewhat of a mismatch in either direction.
It always felt like more of a curiosity than a real fight to me.

Cotto/Manny has that Vazquez/Marquez or Tony/Cotto feel to it. Your gut tells you its got the potential to be a classic.

yea man...in a bloodsport where half of it is mental, confidence (not ****yness) can be deadly

also, although he is the smaller man, the more time passes, the more he fills into that 140 frame....

i have my doubts about the fight being finalized but if it does, it should be a wicked scrap...regardless of the winner

Theres only 1 or 2 guys who have the tools and style to beat Manny, Cotto isn't one of them IMO

Manny drained himself at 130, he's not as small as people think
