I always thought the winner of the fight should take more, winner 70, loser 30.

Honestly, you're treating this as if its some tuneup fight against some unknown fighter or a showcase or something.

Its Miguel Cotto man, one of the biggest stars in boxing. 70-30 is an insult.

Look at their common opponents not named Oscar or Hatton.

      Packy/JMM did roughly 450k.
      Cotto/Tony did roughly 450k.

Without the cash cows they draw about the same.

If Cotto wouldve fought Hatton and Oscar his numbers would be just as good if not better because of the Mex/Pr rivalry.

      This offer is ****.
Lol. I'm not trying to get into a tit for tat, but if you want to break it down like that look at it this way. David DIaz is a total unknown, or in other words a scrub if you will. His fight was seen as nothing more than a tune up for Pacquiao for a 5th title belt. Diaz has NEVER been in another PPV, nor has he ever had recognition. regardless Manny sold 250 000 against him. Turn to Miguel Cotto he fights one of the biggest known names in boxing in Zab Judah IN New York where Judah is very famous if I may add, and only manages to sell 220 000 PPV's with a man who is clearly a draw. This can be seen when you look at the 380 000 PPVs Zab Judah brought in when he fought Mayweather. Now you tell me who sells more. Manny 250K with a unknown in Diaz, or Cotto who was out sold by Manny fighting a unknown, while he was fighting a PPV attraction in Zab Judah.

who gives a **** at this point, i dont even care if the fight gets done. it dont matter 60-40 65-35 cotto is still spankin that ass back to manila city on november, so at the end of the day it's who you beat instead of how much money you made losing to a guy.

I'm not sure that comparison means much. That fight with Judah was in 2007 and Judah had already lost to Mayweather by then. He had no momentum going into it.
But either way, Miguel sold out MSG, I dont think the ticket sales were very good against David Diaz and the ppv #'s were awful. This was supposed to be much bigger because it was Manny's move up to lightweight.
That fight never belonged on ppv to begin with.

Either way, 70-30 for a guy like Cotto is insane and clearly just a negotiating ploy by Freddy.

Live gate doesn't bring much money. If it did they wouldn't have De La Hoya and Tyson fights in 18K capacity ball rooms, they would hold them in football and baseball stadiums. Also Cotto only sold out the MSG ONE time, and that wa sagainst Zab Judah. There were seats available for the Clottey fight.

They're treating Cotto like some two bit journeyman. Miguel should laugh at this 70-30 ****.
