    Chagaev's weak performance

Why didn't the number 3 ranked heavyweight in the world Chagaev take the fight to Wlad and put on a gutsy performance? Chagaev was fighting for the heavyweight championship of the world but instead he put on a halfhearted performance by keeping a high guard and not throwing any punch of note

I've seen heavyweights on espn's FNF put on a better a performance and trade punches and look to KO their opponent

This guy beat Felix Savon in the amateurs twice? What a weak way to fight for the hw championship. This guy is nothing like Mike Tyson, drop the white Tyson moniker

I think Wlad's jab and ring generalship may have had something to do with it

that stiff jab appears to negate confidence rather quickly.

Why drop the moniker? he fought the way Tyson fought Lewis:following around missing, getting worked and the end....

The guy has a bad knee and has HepB, thats exactly how I predicted him to look, especially after seeing his last fight. Being ranked high doesn't mean anything nowdays when people aren't fighting each other.

i agree with you and the threadstarter's points.

I think wlad played a big part in what happened in that ring but it takes two to tango and it also takes two to box...and there was only one man boxing in that ring and it was wlad.

im not sure if Chagaev was trying to out think wlad in a game of chess or if he was just unprepared and couldnt answer wlad's 1,2's.

however being a professional boxer (ranked 3 in the world before the fight) you should EASILY be able to have an answer to the jab and/or jab+straight right hand...and he's a southpaw...he had an advantage if you ask me...he was 5 inches shorter than wlad...he should have used it to his advantage by working that body.

instead he just kept his guard up and kept walking forward...thats no way to win.

i expected a much better fight than what i saw...all i saw was wlad having his way as if it was a tune-up fight instead of a fight for THEE heavyweight championship against the 3rd highest ranked fighter in the division.

Chagaev had his will broken by way of stiff jab.
